The College of English Language and Literature at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) will host an International Conference on English & American Literature from May 22 to May 24, 2009. The theme of the conference is “English & American Literature in Retrospect: 30 Years of Teaching and Research in China”.
The conference features the following topics:
1. English & American Literature in Retrospect: 30 Years of Teaching and Research in China
2. China’s Modernization and English & American Literature
3. Research and Compilation of English & American Literary Histories in China
4. Studies of English & American Writers and Their Works
5. Current Issues in Literary Theory and Criticism
6. Chinese Culture and English & American Literature
7. Teaching of English & American Literature in China
Well-known British and American scholars will be invited to deliver keynote speeches. They are Prof. Douglas Tallack (University of Nottingham), Prof. David Lyle Jeffrey (University of Baylor), etc. The working languages of the conference are both English and Chinese. Participants need to pay for their own traveling fares and accommodation, plus a conference fee 700RMB. Interpretation service will be provided for overseas participants during the conference.
Abstracts of the proposed papers (within 300 words, title and key words included) and registration forms (see below) are required to be sent to us via email before March 15, 2009. Papers submitted to the conference will be selected for publication in English and American Literary Studies (CSSCI).
